Finally a Sidney Sheldon/ Dan Brown inspired Bollywood flick!
After watching this movie, I wondered, how could anyone in Bollywood manage to pull something so good off without over-dramatizing things! Hats off to Sujoy Ghosh! In fact, Hats off to the entire cast and the team! The roles were so convincingly enacted; nothing seemed to be over-done. Bidya Balan's performance certainly guarantees another filmfare in her account. She is everything in this movie that she wasn't in The Dirty Picture! She isn't just an actor, shes a performer! She completely sinks through her roles and I can bet that she's the best out there! The music coupled perfectly with the scenes, but for a few instances, I felt that the music was lacking the sharpness and intensity as compared to the corresponding scenes.
I was glued to my seat even throughout the intermission because I couldn't risk missing even a moment from the 2nd half! The movie unfolds a surprise every other minute. Apart from the strong resemblance to Dan Brown's chase and suspense, the movie drives you totally crazy. You'll feel a little betrayed in the end. No, the climax is really good; but because all your predictions go dramatically wrong! From a writer's point of view, though the climax was unpredictable (which is a good thing), the hide and seek stream throughout the movie seemed too familiar. And then the Intelligence getting involved and then a contract killer on the trail; I felt like watching Sidney Sheldon's creations on the big screen.
The plot maintained its thickness throughout the movie, even throughout the truth-revealing moment; however, a few things in the movie didn't seem to fit in. I wish I could tell you but that would give away the suspense leaving the movie utterly distasteful to watch. And then there is a surprise package in the end when Amitabh's voice speaks in like a small attempt by the director as an effort to ail the impending after-shock.
In short, if you're looking for a serious, suspense thriller; Kahaani is a Must Watch!and Aami Shotti Bolchi!

Is it PG 13?
ReplyDeleteA good attempt I must say..but i rather suggest a review ain't be personalized and usage of words 'I' be strictly avoided!
